But if you want a different kind of Disney experience—one that still carries the magic but offers a more relaxed, beachside atmosphere—Disney Vero Beach is a hidden gem worth exploring. As a Disney enthusiast and a parent myself, I found this destination perfect for families seeking a break from the usual theme park frenzy while still enjoying Disney’s charm.

Disney Vero Beach offers a unique blend of beachside relaxation and Disney magic. Unlike the theme parks, this resort focuses on giving families space to unwind and enjoy nature. The resort sits right on the Atlantic coast, providing easy access to the beach, which is a huge plus for families who want to mix some sun and sand with their Disney vacation. Pro Tip: If you live within driving distance, you can bring your own beach chairs and umbrella which will definitely save you money over the rentals.
The atmosphere here is calm and inviting, making it ideal for families with younger children or those who want to avoid the crowds and long lines typical of Disney World. The resort offers a variety of activities like bike rentals, nature trails, and a large pool area with a slide and splash pad that kids love. It’s a place where you can slow down, enjoy quality family time, and still feel connected to the Disney brand.

One thing I noticed right away is that Disney Vero Beach has limited dining options on site compared to the big parks. There are a few casual restaurants and snack bars, but if you want more variety, you’ll need to venture outside the resort. Fortunately, the surrounding area has plenty of family-friendly restaurants within a short drive, so dining won’t be a problem. Pro Tip: Casey's Place is a great family option outside in Vero Beach where you order at the counter and sit on picnic tables!
A highlight of our stay was the Character Breakfast. This is a great option and its only offered on Saturday mornings from 8-12. The breakfast offers a chance for kids to meet some of their favorite Disney characters (Goofy & Pluto) in a relaxed setting without the rush of the parks. It felt special and gave our kids a magical start to the day. Plus, it’s a nice way to enjoy a meal together before heading out for beach time or other activities. Pro Tip: You can still go to the character breakfast even if you are not staying at Disney Vero - all availability is on OpenTable.

Disney Vero Beach offers a variety of activities that cater to all ages. For families who want to stay active, there are tennis courts, a fitness center, and bike rentals. The resort also organizes nature walks and crafts for kids, which helped keep our little ones engaged without feeling overwhelmed. Our kids were 5 and 2 at the time of our stay and they even had specialty crafts just for their age group!
The beach itself is a major draw. It’s clean, spacious, and less crowded than many other Florida beaches. We spent hours building sandcastles, collecting shells, and splashing in the gentle waves. The calm environment made it easy to relax while still keeping an eye on the kids.
For those who want a break from the sun, the pool area is fantastic. It features a pirate splash pad, a lighthouse slide, and activities on the pool deck daily. It’s a perfect spot to cool off and unwind after a morning at the beach or a day of exploring.

While they offer this at Disney World, it truly felt like a different experience here. I would highly recommend it!
The location is ideal for families who want to explore beyond the parks. You can easily take day trips to nearby attractions or simply enjoy the natural beauty of the Florida coast. The resort’s amenities and activities provide plenty to do without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Disney Vero also offers a spa which we could see several individuals utilizing. Honestly, one of the best parts of this resort was the friendly and helpful staff, always ready to offer recommendations for nearby dining or activities. Their welcoming attitude made us feel right at home and added to the overall positive experience.
Explore Room Types
Disney Vero Beach is a Disney Vacation Club Resort, offering a variety of room types for different durations. On their grounds, they have traditional inn rooms and larger units with 1, 2, and 3-bedroom options. The 3-bedroom units are standalone beach houses located right on the water! We booked our room directly through Disney in January, and I must admit, it's quite challenging to find availability at this resort directly. I recommend considering other options, such as DVC rental, if you wish to experience this resort.
We had a ocean view traditional room in the main inn and the view was wonderful! I believe the ocean view is the way to go because there is nothing better than waking up and sitting on your patio with the waves hitting the beach! The room layout is similar to what you potentially could find at Disney World in a studio - with a queen bed and a pull down queen. We had an additional crib in the room that was provided by Disney Vero with plenty of room to spare.
